Denis Potvin

Denis Potvin is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who played 15 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the New York Islanders.

Potvin was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, on October 29, 1953. He was drafted by the Islanders first overall in the 1973 NHL Entry Draft. Potvin made his NHL debut in the 1973–74 season and quickly became one of the league's top defensemen.

Potvin was a six-time NHL All-Star and was named to the NHL First All-Star Team four times. He also won the James Norris Memorial Trophy as the NHL's top defenseman three times.

Potvin was a key member of the Islanders' dynasty of the 1980s, which saw the team win four consecutive Stanley Cups from 1980 to 1983.

Potvin retired from the NHL in 1988. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1991.

Mark Messier

Mark Messier is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who played 25 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Edmonton Oilers, New York Rangers, and Vancouver Canucks.

Messier was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, on January 18, 1961. He was drafted by the Oilers first overall in the 1979 NHL Entry Draft.

Messier made his NHL debut in the 1979–80 season and quickly became one of the league's top players. He was a five-time NHL All-Star and was named to the NHL First All-Star Team six times.

Messier was a key member of the Oilers' dynasty of the 1980s, which saw the team win five Stanley Cups from 1984 to 1990.

Messier was also a key member of the Rangers' Stanley Cup victory in 1994.

Messier retired from the NHL in 2005. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2007.
